Reason / Defects: The product’s button battery compartment is not adequately secured, and the button batteries are accessible. Hazards: If young children gain access to the button batteries and ingest them, they are likely to suffer severe internal burn injuries, which can result in serious illness or death. Button batteries also pose a choking hazard to young children. What to do: If consumers have a key light, it should be destroyed immediately in a secure manner. If preferred, the light may be returned to Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service where arrangements will be made for it to be securely destroyed. After disposal, consumers should notify Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service, so that the safe disposal of the products can be monitored.
