Our Mission

Every day, government agencies around the world issue recalls for contaminated food, defective vehicles, toxic toys, and faulty medicines. However, these notices are scattered across outdated registries, hidden under disjointed web portals, and formatted in inconsistent ways.

Our mission is simple: democratize access to public safety data. By collecting, translating, and mapping this scattered information into a single, unified database, we help consumers, safety auditors, and developers find and monitor active hazards quickly and efficiently.

How We Source and Verify Data

Integrity is our primary priority. To build trust with both our visitors and search networks, we strictly adhere to a zero-third-party policy:

  • US Food and Drugs: FDA Drug, FDA Food, and FDA Device recall registries.
  • US Vehicles & Equipment: Real-time integration with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) database.
  • US Consumer Safety: The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) feed and USDA FSIS alerts.
  • International Feeds: The United Kingdom Food Standards Agency (FSA), Health Canada, France's official RappelConso repository, Germany's BVL (Bundesamt für Verbraucherschutz und Lebensmittelsicherheit), and Australia's FSANZ/ACCC registries.

All records on our platform are synced daily, containing references and canonical outbound links to the original government alert, so you can always check and confirm details directly from the issuing authority.

Who We Are

The Recall File is run by an independent team of software engineers, data analysts, and consumer safety advocates. We leverage automated ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to monitor government registries, clean unstructured data formats, and publish updates in near real-time.

We do not charge subscription fees, sell user databases, or lock search tools behind paywalls. The platform is supported entirely by clean, context-appropriate advertising.
