Reason for Recall / Hazard
The voltage regulator in affected Kawasaki general purpose engines, installed in Hustler lawn mowers can malfunction. The affected mowers can catch fire at any time, even if the engine is off or not in use.
Product Description & Identification
Reason / Defects: The voltage regulator in affected Kawasaki general purpose engines, installed in Hustler lawn mowers can malfunction. The affected mowers can catch fire at any time, even if the engine is off or not in use. Hazards: There is risk of fire, serious injury or death and/or damage to property if the voltage regulator malfunctions in affected Kawasaki general purpose engines. What to do: Consumers should: Stop using their affected mower until it has been repaired. Disconnect the negative battery cable and secure it away from the negative battery post. If you are unsure on how to disconnect the battery, please contact your local Hustler dealer . Contact MTD Products to register for a repair. Repairs are expected to commence from mid-March 2024 when replacement voltage regulators become available.
