CONTACT: April 19, 1990 (301) 504-7908 Release # 90-081 Baby Sak Bean Bag Infant Cushions Recalled Because Of Suffocation Risk FT. LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA -- Baby Sak, Pembroke Pines, FL, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is recalling its Baby Sak bean bag infant cushions because of a suffocation risk. Although no deaths have been reported involving Baby Sak, the Commission has received reports of 19 infants being found dead lying face down on similar products. Baby Sak is a fabric covered, polystyrene pellet-filled cushion intended for use with infants. The name "Baby Sak" appears on the restraint straps attached to the product. Since 1988 approximately 125 Baby Sak cushions have been sold for $15.00 each, exclusively at local craft shows in southern Florida. Baby Sak and the CPSC staff urge consumers who own these products to stop using them immediately. Baby Sak will exchange other infant products of equal retail value for return of the cushions.
